RoseVintage for the Gents!

Hey you, yeah.. YOU!

We have exciting news for all of you RoseVintage fans!

One of the top questions we received this summer while on tour with our mobile shop was, "Do you sell mens clothing"? Of course we had to say no. I personally hate having to respond with the word "NO" to anything. So I started searching thrift stores & estate sales for menswear. This was such a new territory for me being that I have NEVER worked with mens clothing. I asked for my fiance, Donovan's help a lot. What's your favorite piece of clothing? What do you look for while thrifting? Favorite brands, fabric, style? What inspires you? How much are you willing to pay for a shirt, jeans, shoes? Even though he's not into fashion by any means, he was a GREAT help & had lots of answers!

My little sister's friend, Cody Martell, modeled for our VERY FIRST RoseVintage menswear photo shoot. He has amazing style & an even better personality so I knew he would be the perfect fit!

The next step was picking a name for the new mens section of our vintage shop! Easier said than done.
After much debate between "menswear" or "dudes". I turned to my Facebook friends for help. Many of my friends & family made amazing suggestions but the one that I couldn't stop smiling about was "gents".

So here it is... we're announcing RoseVintage for the Gents! We have stacks of vintage Pendleton flannels, silk skinny ties & knitted amazingness!

Head over to http://www.etsy.com/shop/samanthabalk to shop now!

Apple Orchard Love

One of my favorite places on earth is the Erie Apple Orchard. Living in Montana for the last three years, I was definitely deprived of cider & donuts. So I made sure to make it my number one priority to get my fix of macintosh apples, fresh apple cider & donuts! Mariah & I nearly ate a dozen of donuts to ourselves.. yikes. It was SO worth it though!

Have you been to an apple orchard or pumpkin patch yet this fall?
What fall traditions do you have?

FALL in love with RoseVintage

Hi my loves! I'm currently in Michigan working on a few projects. I love being here because I get to be with my family. Speaking of family, my little sister, Mariah & I have a nice little thing going. She models for RoseVintage & I take photos. We work really well together, sometimes I think we have the same brain!

This past weekend we pulled up to an abandoned farm in Monroe, MI. Set up a little styling station out of my car & started snapping away! I'm pretty happy with the results. What do you think?

P.S. Many thanks to Mariah Balk & Kaila Emerick for all of your help!

XO,
Sam

Front Page Treasury!

Yay! RoseVintage just started making treasuries last week & one of them made it to the front page of Etsy! So incredibly exciting for us & all of the amazing shops featured! I have been really inspired by Navajo prints & Native American culture so I decided to create one called "Navajo prints, Headdresses & Leather".

Farmers Market Pickled Beets

So I'm guessing you've seen the amazing beets at the farmers market recently? Are you wondering what to do with them? I say pickle 'em! I personally love anything pickled. If you haven't ever tried canning, it may be intimidating at first but it becomes really easy & fun! Beets are actually my favorite vegetable, so earthy & satisfying.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon pickling spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/4 onion, halved
  • 1 small bay leaf (not California)
  • 3/4 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
  • 1/4 bunch fresh dill
  • 3 beets (1 pound without tops)

  • Preparation:

Bring all ingredients except beets to a boil in a 2 to 3 quart saucepan, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
Cover and simmer 30 minutes.
Cool marinade, then chill, covered, 1 day to allow flavors to develop.
Pour through a fine sieve into a bowl.
Cook beets in a saucepan of boiling salted water until tender, 1 to 1 1/4 hours.
Drain and cool.
Slip off skins and cut into 1/2-inch pieces.
Stir together beets and marinade, then marinate, covered and chilled, 1 day.

Enjoy!
